History of the Temple

Badrinath dham, just like the other Chota char dham sites were revived and reestablished as a pilgrimage Matth by the 8th-century saint and sage Adi Shankaracharya. Opening and Closing Dates

Just like every other char dham site of Uttarakhand Badrinath dham also shuts down during the 6 months when the temple is covered in a thick layer of snow and makes accessibility impossible.
