August: The entire region witnesses unpredictable occasional rainfall and is also one of the most popular months to visit Badrinath. People also opt to visit the famous valley of flowers during this month since the flowers are in full bloom during this month.

September: The temperature during this month begins to dip with the temperature panning between 11 degree Celsius and 14 degree Celsius. This is also one of the most popular months to visit the dham among yatris and pilgrims. The overall climatic conditions remain extremely pleasant and comfortable.

October: This month marks the commencement of the cold winter season where the temperature ranges between 12 degree Celsius and 7 degree Celsius. This is also the last month of pilgrimage among yatris and pilgrims which is also marked by the closing of the temple kapat.

November: The weather remains extremely cold and freezing during this month with the temperature ranging between 6 degree Celsius and 14 degree Celsius. Any sort of outdoor activity is discouraged during this freezing month.

December: This month witnesses heavy snowfall and the temperature remains between 5 degree Celsius and 12 degree Celsius. This freezing month has no traveller or pilgrim during this month.

Best Time to Visit Badrinath

Being situated at a high altitude the winter season is extremely severe and just like all its contemporary ancient temples of Char Dham it shuts down for Darshan. The best time for you to plan a trip to Badrinath should be during the summer months and the peak tourist season. This means the months of May to early July i.e. from the time the gates of the temple opens up to the pre monsoon season. If the cold weather is not a problem then one can plan a visit between the time of early September to the time of closing on either later October or early November.
