India Nepal Buddhist Tour Itinerary

Day 1 :Arrival at Delhi

Upon your arrival in Delhi, you will be immediately transferred by our tour representative to your allotted hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2 :Delhi – Agra

After having your breakfast in the morning you will be made to head on towards Agra, which is situated at a road journey distance of 5 hours. Once you arrive in Agra you will be immediately checked in to your hotel where you will be spending the night. Later in the evening, you will be made to visit the stunning 7th wonder of the world – Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, which is located right next to the Taj. You will finally be made to head back to your hotel in Agra.

Day 3 :Agra – Sankasia – Lucknow

You will be made to head on towards Lucknow early in the morning, which is located at a distance of 10 – 11 hours. En route you will be visiting Sankasia, the place where Lord Buddha had descended to Earth 7 years after his Mahaparinirvana. After this, your drive towards Lucknow will continue where upon your arrival you will be checked into your allotted hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4 :Lucknow – Varanasi

Early in the morning, you will be made to transfer to Varanasi, which is located at a road journey distance of 7 – 8 hours. Upon arrival, you will be duly checked in to your allotted hotel for an overnight stay. Evening time is free for you to shop in the nearby marketplaces and gorge on some delicious local cuisines.

Day 5 :Varanasi – Bodhgaya

Early in the morning, you will be made to experience a breathtaking boat ride on the holy River Ganga. Later on you will be made to visit Sarnath – the place where Lord Buddha delivered his very first sermon after his achievement of enlightenment. You will then be driven to Bodhgaya which is located at a distance of 7 hours of road journey. Upon arriving at Bodhgaya you will be immediately checked in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6 :Bodhgaya Sightseeing Tour

Early in the morning your sightseeing tour of this holy city will commence where you will be made to head on towards the famous and extremely sacred Mahabodhi temple – home to the famous Bodhi tree under which Buddha had attained his enlightenment after years of meditation; great Buddha statue; Niranjana River – the place where Buddha had taken a bath post-enlightenment; Sujata temple – located across the paddy fields and dedicated to a woman who had given Buddha food and water which had helped him replenish him and reach Bodhgaya; you will also be made to visit other significant Buddhist temples in Bodhgaya like, Royal Bhutan monastery and Daijokyo temple.

You will finally be made to head back to your hotel in Bodhgaya for an overnight stay.

Day 7 :Bodhgaya – Rajgir – Nalanda – Bodhgaya

Early in the morning, you will be made to head on for one of the most significant Buddhist sites in India, Rajgir. You will visit Vulture peak – Buddha’s favourite retreat spot and the place from where he gave most of his discourses; world peace stupa; bamboo’s garden. You will then continue your holy journey towards Nalanda – one of the oldest universities in the world where Buddha used to give lectures on Buddhism.

Later on, you will be made to head back to Bodhgaya where you will be staying the night.

Day 8 :Bodhgaya – Vaishali – Kushinagar

Early in the morning, you will be made to head towards another important Buddhist destination of Kushinagar. En route you will stop at Vaishali – the place where Buddha gained some knowledge about the life of saints and performed some meditation. The ruler here took up Buddhism himself and established numerous stupas after Buddha’s Mahaparinirvana.

After covering a journey of 11 hours from Bodhgaya to Kushinagar you will immediately be checked in to your allotted hotel where you will be spending the night.

Day 9 :Kushinagar – Lumbini

Kushinagar is the place where Lord Buddha had attained his Mahaparinirvana and had passed on to the holy abode. You will be taken on a complete Buddhist sightseeing tour of Kushinagar which includes places like Mahaparinirvana Temple – the place where Buddha took his last breath; Ramabhar Stupa – which houses the cremated ashes of Buddha; Japan temple.

In the afternoon you will be made to head on towards Lumbini (Nepal) which is a 5 hours of road journey. Once you arrive in Lumbini you will be immediately checked in to your allotted hotel here where you will be spending the night.

Day 10 :Lumbini – Kapilavastu – Sravasti

After having your breakfast in the morning you will be made to leave for Sravasti, which will be a 5 hours of road journey. En route you will stop over at Kapilavastu – the place where Buddha had spent his childhood and youth. You will be made to visit the ruins of his palace.

Later on you will head on to Sravasti – the place where Buddha had spent 24 of his monsoons and is also home to Ananda bodhi tree and Jetvana. You will then be checked in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 11 :Sravasti – Lucknow – Delhi

You will be driven to Lucknow in the morning which will be a road journey of 5 – 6 hours. Upon arriving at Lucknow you will be transferred to the railway station where you will be made to board the train headed towards Delhi. Once you reach Delhi our tour representative will escort you to your allotted hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 12 :Delhi Sightseeing and Departure

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will be assisted on a sightseeing tour of Delhi where you will be visiting some of the most iconic landmarks of the national capital which will include places like Lakshmi Narayan temple, Gandhi Museum, India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan, parliament house. Your lunch will be at a local restaurant which offers delicious local cuisines.

Post lunch you will be transferred to the Delhi airport from where you will be boarding the flight headed onwards to your desired destination, hence, concluding your tour journey with us.
