Spiritual Ganges River Tour Itinerary
Day 1 :Arrival in Delhi
Upon your arrival in Delhi, you will be escorted by our tour representative to your allotted hotel where you will be checked in for a night. You can freshen up and relax some leisurely time and get ready for the next day’s trip.
Day 2 :Delhi Sightseeing
This day is reserved for sightseeing across Delhi. Just after a wholesome and hearty breakfast, your sightseeing tour will commence. This ancient Mughal capital is scattered with historic wonders.
The first stop will be the colorful and vibrant 17th-century creation Chandni Chowk. Along with numerous and pocket-friendly shopping options and innumerable famous eateries, you will be able to take in the real vibe of Delhi. Next, you will be taken to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India and is situated next to Chandni Chowk.
Raj Ghat, a place next to Yamuna River, is the next stop, which is the burial spot of Mahatma Gandhi. Paying your respects there to the father of the nation is on every Delhi visitor’s itinerary. After this, you will be served lunch.
Post lunch you will be taken to Qutub Minar, a UNESCO world heritage site, which was built to commemorate the victory or Qutub-ud-din-Aibak. This tower attracts visitors from far and wide making it one of the most visited tourist spot in Delhi.
After this you will be taken to red fort for the final leg of your local sightseeing trip in Delhi. This fort was the main residence for Mughal emperors for almost 200 years. Now it is home to one of the most impressive museums.
Finally, you will be taken back to your hotel for a night stay and a wholesome dinner.
Day 3 :Delhi – Mathura (183 km / 03 Hours)
After a wholesome and healthy breakfast, you will be taken to the birthplace of Lord Krishna, Mathura. This is one of the main pilgrimage destinations for Krishna devotees. After your arrival in Mathura, you will be checked into your hotel where you can freshen up. After this you will be taken on a sightseeing tour of Mathura city.
To start off you will be taken to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mandir, which is built around the prison cell where Lord Krishna is said to be born. It is one of the most frequently visited temples in India and is located right next to Eid Gah mosque.
After paying your tribute and homage at the temple you will then be taken to Vishram Ghat, the same place where Lord Krishna is said to have rested after defeating Kans. This iconic site is central to 25 other ghats. You will then be served a hearty lunch before proceeding to your next location.
Your next stop will be one of the oldest and the largest temples in India, Dwarkadhish Mandir. This temple is dedicated to Lord Dwarkadheesh (king of Dwarka) and is the focal gathering point of devotees during every festival.
After going through the rituals and offering your pooja you will then be taken to the hotel for an overnight stay and dinner.
Day 4 :Mathura – Agra – Allahabad (534 km / 9 Hours)
After breakfast, you will be taken to Agra, which is around 2 hours away from Mathura. On reaching Agra your sightseeing tour will commence. The main attraction in Agra is the 7th wonder of the world, Taj Mahal. Ever since its construction was completed this ivory white mausoleum sitting on the bank of River Yamuna, is the main attraction in Agra and the reason why Agra remains flanked with tourists throughout the year.
You will also be taken to Agra Fort, which is right next to Taj and had served as a residence for several Mughal emperors. This walled city is also a UNESCO world heritage site and sees thousands of visitors on a daily basis.
After experiencing the breathtaking views you will be escorted to the railway station where you will catch an express train to reach your following destination.
Day 5 :Allahabad – Varanasi (121 km / 4 Hours)
Post your arrival in Allahabad our tour representative there will escort you straight to your hotel where you will be provided with a hearty and wholesome breakfast. After freshening up and spending some time relaxing in the hotel your exploration of the city of Allahabad will begin.
Starting, with a refreshing visit to the, Sangam. This is the place which is the confluence of three of the holiest rivers in India, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati (mythological). The greenish Ganga converging with the brownish Yamuna is a sight to behold among visitors. You will be taken on a boat ride and a dip in this holy confluence which is believed to rid you of the karmic cycle of birth and rebirth.
After a mesmerizing visit you will be taken to the Allahabad Fort, which sits on the banks of the confluence and was built by the Mughal emperor Akbar. Recognized for being of national importance by the Archeological survey of India, this fort is the largest one built by Akbar and is visited by thousands of tourists every day who stand in awe of the impeccable architecture and highly detailed designs.
Our tour representative will then guide you for a leisurely stroll along the vibrant and colorful ghats of Allahabad. They present several opportunities for the visitors to offer their prayers and honour Ganga River. Along with this you will also be taken to the Ashoka Pillar which is also known as Allahabad Pillar. It is one of the several pillars which carry Ashoka’s edicts.
After this local excursion, you will be served some delicious and fulfilling lunch.
You will finally head towards the next destination, the holy city of Varanasi. After 4 hours of travel, you will be checked into your hotel so that you can relax, have a wholesome dinner and stay overnight.
Day 6 :Varanasi Sightseeing
Early in the morning, you will be taken for a boat ride on the shimmering and holiest river in India, Ganga, where you will witness the majestic sunrise. After experiencing one of the most spiritually evoking sights you will be taken for your breakfast.
Post breakfast you will be taken on a city trip for temple sightings. Starting off with, Bharat Mata Mandir. This one of a kind temple houses a huge map of undivided India and was built by freedom fighter Babu Shiv Prasad Sharma.
Next stop will be the famous Kashi Vishwanath Mandir. Dedicated to Lord Shiva this temple is of immense importance to the Hindus. It is the holiest one out of the 12 jyotirlingas, where Lord Shiva is said to have appeared as a piercing column of light. Hindus from across the world visit this temple at least once in their lifetime.
Before heading to your next location, you will be served with delicious lunch.
Then you will be taken to one of the largest universities in the world, the Banaras Hindu University. A major attraction among travelers and history enthusiasts, it is a must-visit; in case you want to experience the age-old tradition of learning and spirituality in its full vigor.
As evening approaches you will be taken back to your hotel where you can relax and spend some time to do leisurely activities, ending your day with a complete dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7 :Varanasi – Delhi
Post breakfast, you will be taken to Sarnath, one of the most important and holy sites for Buddhists. The whole place is dotted with stupas and temples dedicated to Lord Buddha. This is the place where Lord Buddha delivered his very first sermon after attaining enlightenment, to his 5 disciples.
The first stop in Sarnath will be the Dhamekh Stupa which was built in 500 CE. Located at a comfortable distance of 13 kms, this is a shrine which houses the ashes of Lord Buddha.
Chaukhandi stupa will be the next stop, which is one of its kind stupas and serves as a shrine for Buddha’s relics. It is a must visit site which cannot be missed out because of its architecture and importance.
You will then be served lunch before proceeding to the next stop.
Post lunch you will be taken to the archeological museum. Also known as Allahabad museum, it is home to some of the prehistoric paintings dating back to 14,000 to 2,000bc. It utilizes solar power and has earned the place for being the first self-reliant power generation museum in India.
Your evening will be reserved for relaxation and you will be departed to Delhi in an express train. This will be an overnight journey.
Day 8 :Delhi Departure
After you arrival in Delhi in the morning, you will be checked into a hotel. This day will be dedicated for you to relax and spend some leisure time. Finally, in the evening you will be escorted by our respective tour representatives to your airports or railways stations hence, ending your magical and spiritual Ganga journey.
