Anuradhapura City Sightseeing Tour Itinerary
Day 01 : Departure from Colombo – Sightseeing in Anuradhapura
As per the scheduled departure, you will leave for Anuradhapura early in the morning and will be delighted to follow 2-3 hours long drive along with the lush green beauty of Sri Lanka. On reaching Anuradhapura, you will check-in to your hotel room and get yourself refresh from the earlier drive.
Then, you will proceed with your sightseeing tour of Anuradhapura. First, you will visit the sacred hill of Mihintale. The large Buddha statue built on top of this hill is the place where it is believed that Lord Buddha landed after flying from India and finally, spiritualized the land of Sri Lanka with his mere presence. For this, you may have to hike up some stairs.
Then, you will be driven to the sacred site of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi temple where a large fig tree is worshipped inside a temple complex. And, it is the very place where Lord Buddha is presumed to attain the enlightenment.
Next, you will proceed towards the Isurumuniya which is beautiful temple carved inside a big rock and has many portraits that showcase the love of different people creatively carved. You will enjoy a serene environment here at this place and it may soothe your mind from all kinds of negativity looming in your head.
Just a two-minute walk away from Isurumuniya, you will enjoy a calming walk in the interiors of Royal Garden.
Later, you will go to Tissa Wewa Lake which is an artificial reservoir and enjoy a soothing sunset view from here.
And afterwards, you will be escorted back to your hotel room where you will enjoy your overnight stay.
Day 2 :Hiking to Sigiriya – Departure for Colombo
Next morning, you will again wake up early in the morning and leave for Sigiriya where a Lion’s Rock is located up in the mountains and will give a rare sight of nature. You will also enjoy a packed breakfast during this journey. On reaching the place, you will oversee a large rock beautifully carved on a hill and will also witness the serene beauty of nature.
After the excursion, you will be escorted back to Colombo where this trip will finally end and our representative will say his goodbye to you.
